Foreign Object Debris (FOD) Campaign at Yangon International Airport
Yangon International Airport successfully conducted a comprehensive Foreign Object Debris (FOD) campaign aimed at maintaining safety and operational efficiency. The campaign, which took place from 07:20 to 08:15 local time on 24th December, 2024, covered a total area of 102,225 square meters, including Apron A and the Stand Area.
The event saw active participation from 170 personnel, representing a wide range of stakeholders, including international and domestic airlines, ACC, aviation police, ground handlers, fuel suppliers, catering services and YACL Staffs. The collaborative effort emphasized the importance of maintaining a safe, debris-free environment for both airport operations and flight safety.
A variety of tools and equipment were utilized throughout the campaign, including gloves, disposal bags, portable Bluetooth speakers, handheld speakers, five FOD awareness posters, and two Follow-Me vehicles to guide participants.
At the end of the campaign, a total of 9.4 kilograms of foreign object debris was collected. This included 6.9 kg from airport infrastructure, 0.5 kg from flight line items, and 2 kg from personnel. The FOD campaign not only ensured the safety of airport operations but also highlighted the dedication of all involved parties in fostering a culture of safety and operational safety at Yangon International Airport.
